ABOUT US 

was founded in October 2009 specifically to help food related organizations and businesses better navigate the world of food innovation. We focus on food and related product innovation that aims to assist consumers in achieving their goals for greater health and wellbeing.

With more than 10,000 new foods launched in the market per year in the USA alone, it becomes difficult to assess the true value and relevance of product innovation.

OUR CREDO

NUFOODS PROMOCOM INTERNATIONAL inc believes:

> that no one food can make or break an individual’s nutritional status or health. Only a balanced diet, including a variety of foods that meet energy and nutrient requirements can promote and maximize the potential for optimal health and well-being. Other lifestyle behaviours (physical activity, smoking, stress, etc) also influence health and wellness.

> that wholesome foods and beverages should be the principal source of nourishment and nutrition. Dietary supplements can offer effective complementary nutritional support when the diet falls short of supplying the appropriate amount of nutrients or when nutrient requirements are greater than usual.

> that "functional foods" which have been shown to have physiological benefits and/or reduce the risk of diet-related chronic diseases beyond basic nutritional functions; and/or natural health products can make a positive contribution to healthy eating, health and wellbeing when appropriately used to
:

  • diagnose--treat--mitigate--prevent disease/disorder/abnormal physical states or symptoms
  • restore or correct organic functions in humans
  • modify organic functions, in a manner that maintains, restores or promotes health


> that therapeutic diets, which may or may not include functional foods and/or natural health products, and enteral nutrition support can help to prevent or treat nutrition related disorders and accompanying symptoms and malaises

> that the information we provide should rely on scientific evidence and peer-reviewed research whenever possible / or alternatively on sound expert opinion with a solid biological basis, soundness being based on, as a minimum, “consistency of evidence from various study models: epidemiological, clinical, animal, and a plausibility that a relationship exists between the consumption of nutrients or foods and health and wellness”

> that optimal health is the result of complex interaction between genetic factors, the environment and lifestyle behaviours. Individuals with specific disorders will be directed to their health care providers for a thorough assessment of health problems and appropriate treatment

Claire C Cronier, MBA, MSc, RD 

Originally from Ottawa, and now a resident of Niagara, Claire’s diverse experience in food and health spans across various organizations in several sectors across Canada including public health, academia (University of Moncton, University of Ottawa), government (Agriculture Canada) and the food industry as a nutrition practitioner, consultant, technical advisor, professor, director of communications and executive director. Her professional career also brought her to West Africa and Latin America as a Consultant on various projects.

Recently, Claire completed an MBA from the Telfer School of Management after 25 years in practice as a Registered Dietitian and was selected to join the Beta Gamma Sigma International Honour Society. Claire obtained her MSc (nutrition) from l’Université Laval and her BSc (dietetics) from the University of Ottawa.

Making sure that health and nutrition messages are evidence-based and tailored to meet specific needs and circumstances are important to Claire.

Her focus now – Helping clients achieve greater presence and recognition in the marketplace while having a positive impact on consumer health and wellbeing. 

This means focussing on innovative ways to turn great ideas into RELEVANT and SUSTAINABLE solutions, by combining scientific evidence with strategic business choices and marketing decisions to achieve commercial success.
